Fire Cupping stimulates the flow of blood and Qi (pronounced chee) within the superficial muscle layers. It is used for sore muscles, pain, common cold and asthma.
A therapeutic fire cupping treatment involves warming and placing cups made of glass, on the skin. By warming the air within the cup, a vacuum is created, and when it is applied to the skin, the tissue is drawn up into the cup. This increases the blood flow, loosens the fascia or connective tissue to stimulate healing. The cups are placed on the painful area and may also be moved as a form of massage. Fire cupping may cause temporary red marks depending upon the degree of suction created by the vacuum and the level of internal stagnation. In TCM, this is a favourable outcome and indicates the treatment has removed toxins and stagnation.
Benefits of Fire Cupping include:
-increased blood flow
-reduced inflammation
-stretching of the muscles and connective tissue
-loosening adhesions and fascial restrictions

Fire Cupping can also boost immunity by increasing lymphatic flow, optimization of athletic performance, increase relaxation and improve overall well-being.

Taylor was introduced to the practice of osteopathy after dealing with years of occupational back pain and no relief from any other modalities. She only started to see results when she found an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner who searched for the root cause of her problems, rather than just treating her symptoms. She knew almost immediately that this was the career path she had been searching for.

Taylor is a graduate of the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy and a member of the Ontario Osteopathic Association. Prior to her osteopathic education, Taylor earned her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Wilfrid Laurier University. Her educational background has allowed her to combine her skills in logic and reasoning with an in-depth knowledge of functional anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, assessment and mechanical principles.

Taylor’s approach to treatment is always unique to her patient’s specific needs and lifestyle. Through gentle adjustment of the body, Taylor will work to stabilize the structure, balance the body and remove obstructions that restrict the flow of nerves, arteries, veins and lymphatics. Only when the body is balanced, and structures are adjusted to normal, can we begin to facilitate the self-healing, self-regulating mechanisms of the body.

Please contact her or book an appointment to learn more about what Osteopathy can do to improve your health and wellness!

After graduating and becoming a Registered Physiotherapist, she began working as an Orthopedic Therapist where she treated patients suffering from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. Often patients who come to her are unsure of pelvic physiotherapy and what it entails, but Helena loves to walk a patient through the entire pelvic program and explain just how it can benefit each individual. She adjusts her treatment sessions so each is specific to the individual’s own pace toward the road to recovery. After the first assessment with Helena, you will feel much better about Pelvic Health Physiotherapy and how it can help!
