Fire Cupping stimulates the flow of blood and Qi (pronounced chee) within the superficial muscle layers. It is used for sore muscles, pain, common cold and asthma.
A therapeutic fire cupping treatment involves warming and placing cups made of glass, on the skin. By warming the air within the cup, a vacuum is created, and when it is applied to the skin, the tissue is drawn up into the cup. This increases the blood flow, loosens the fascia or connective tissue to stimulate healing. The cups are placed on the painful area and may also be moved as a form of massage. Fire cupping may cause temporary red marks depending upon the degree of suction created by the vacuum and the level of internal stagnation. In TCM, this is a favourable outcome and indicates the treatment has removed toxins and stagnation.
Benefits of Fire Cupping include:
-increased blood flow
-reduced inflammation
-stretching of the muscles and connective tissue
-loosening adhesions and fascial restrictions

Fire Cupping can also boost immunity by increasing lymphatic flow, optimization of athletic performance, increase relaxation and improve overall well-being.

The use of hot stones for healing purposes in North America, South America, Egypt, India, Africa and Europe dates back thousands of years.

Hot Stone massage is an advanced massage technique that uses flat, smooth basalt water-heated stones. The stones become an extension of your therapists’ hands and are applied directly to the skin. Hot stones are placed on specific areas of the body guiding you into an even deeper state of relaxation and allowing energy pathways to open.

The benefits of hot stone massage are endless. The direct heat relieves stress and tension in the muscles which allow for an increase in circulation allowing toxins to flush out. Calming of the nervous system helps to relieve pain, improve sleep and re-balance the mind. The hot stone massage is also excellent for those who are suffering from fibromyalgia and arthritis.

This is a great alternative for those who do not like a deep massage treatment. By warming and relaxing your muscles with hot stones, it helps your therapist reach the deeper muscle layers without deep pressure. This treatment is not suitable for those who are pregnant, suffer from high blood pressure, have diabetes or weakened skin.

Hot stone massage will reinvigorate your mind, body and soul; leaving you with an overall sense of well-being.

Your Lymphatic System helps to rid the body of toxins, waste, and unwanted materials. It’s most important function is to move lymph - a fluid containing infection-fighting white blood cells- throughout the body. At times, your body can produce excess fluids and cause its system to swell up, slowing down its rate of circulating lymph efficiently.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) Massage is a gentle treatment that encourages detoxification by moving our lymph fluid. This relieves swelling and brings your Lymphatic System back to its optimal circulatory balance. By stimulating our lymphatic system we decrease inflammation, improve lymphatic circulation and release toxins.

MLD can help with headaches, fibromyalgia, lymphedema, fatigue, insomnia, stress, digestive problems, arthritis and more.

*This service is covered under Registered Massage Therapy

For Post Surgery Patients:

Manual Lymph Drainage is often a necessary component of healing after surgical procedures. In the 4-6 weeks following a surgery, we recommend working with a Certified Decongestive Therapist (CDT) for the most specialized lymphatic care.

We would love to work with you after those 4-6 weeks to provide ongoing lymphatic system support.

”I chose a career in Naturopathic Medicine because I knew that I wanted to find a way to truly help people find optimal wellness, and be in control of their own health.  It was my own struggles with weight, anxiety, and PCOS as a teenager that led me to naturopathic medicine. I needed a plan to manage my health concerns that didn’t rely on band-aid solutions to treat symptoms, but rather a strategy and plan that examined the root cause of my concerns.  With the help of naturopathic medicine I was able harness my hormones, and develop my own path to wellness. While I live my own health journey everyday, I have taken the drivers seat.  I have mapped out a much smoother, and much more empowered ride, where I am embodying the balanced life that I yearned for as a teenager.  It is my goal to help you find your drivers seat, take control of your health, and reach your vision of optimal wellness. I am committed to spending time with you, listening attentively to your concerns, and developing targeted individualized treatment plans to address them.”- Dr. Kate, ND

Dr. Kate has a special focus on hormonal health, PCOS, women’s health, fertility, stress management, weight management, anxiety, athletic performance, and digestive concerns.  As a personal trainer, yoga teacher, and former varsity athlete she values the importance of movement in supporting the mind-body connection, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  She often incorporates mindfulness-based practices, and personalized exercise plans into treatment plans, to effectively treat the whole individual. Her treatment philosophy is rooted in uncovering the root cause of concerns through a detailed health history intake and comprehensive lab testing.  Treatment is focused on promoting the body’s natural ability to heal through optimal nutrition, botanical medicine, acupuncture, lifestyle medicine, and traditional naturopathic modalities tailored to individual needs.

Vanesa graduated from Mohawk College in 2016.

She enjoys helping clients manage their aches and pains by identifying and treating the root of it. Every client’s individual needs and preferences for treatment modalities are considered when developing a treatment plan.

Her treatment approach optimizes soft tissue release techniques to help manage symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders, such as muscle strains/sprains, carpal tunnel syndrome, or rotator cuff injuries.

Depending on client comfortability and preference, she may also include other modalities such as: cupping, reiki, trigger point therapy, and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) massage.

These techniques aim to encourage range of motion, improve mobility, and manage pain and stress.

She likes to combine cupping, reiki, and PNF massage, as these modalities can have the benefit of addressing pain from a combination of holistic and clinical approaches.

Currently, she is a full-time student completing the Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture Program at AIM Academy in Toronto. She is projected to finish her studies by June 2025 and is looking forward to bringing acupuncture and more modalities to the treatment room!
